Jeremy McWilliams #99
Jeremy McWilliams hit the motorbike racing scene by taking his first win in his first ever competitive race – the 1988 Irish Championship, riding a Yamaha 350cc. A bike fanatic from a young age, Jeremys racing debut and victory was scored using his own bike, purchased whilst still working as an electronics engineer in Ireland.

Despite being a late starter on the grid at the age of 24, Jeremy has not wasted a second in subsequently building an astute racing CV.Following his early Irish successes Jeremy, having acquired a taste for victory, then went on to take the 1990 and 1991 Irish Championship titles.

Jeremy continued to move up the power scale, going on to score a number of top 10 championship finishes on V-Twin bikes in the 250cc and 500cc series category during the 1990’s. Most notably he gained 10th with Honda in the 1997 250cc World Championship, and 9th in the 1998 250cc World Championship with TSR.

In 2002 Jeremy entered the new era of MotoGP, where his proven track record in the smaller categories gained him recognition and a place with the Proton team.   With the exception of the 2004 season, spent with his former 250 and 500cc team Aprilia, Jeremy has since remained with Proton until his meeting last year with Mario Illien and Ilmor GP. Illien was struck by the Ulsterman’s uncanny ability to give precise feedback on the bikes configuration during his test rides allowing the team to make positive changes to the bikes set-up.
